Grove City wrestlers made history at the Northwest Regionals today, sending three champions to the Pennsylvania State Tournament in Hershey.  Congratulations to Hunter Hohman 160#, Cody Hamilton 145#, and Hudson Hohman 121#.

Two champs and five regional qualifiers!  Grove City took 5th overall as a team and Coach Phipps brought home his own award, Section Coach of the Year!

Another big weekend for Grove City JO Wrestling at the Keystone Northwest Youth State Qualifiers in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Another big weekend for Grove City JO Wrestling at the PJW Area 6 Youth State Qualifiers in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

We sent thirteen wrestlers to the state qualifier. Ten brought home medals and seven qualified for the state tournament.

Another big weekend for Grove City Wrestling as we took 5th place in Team points at Sections. We have 7 wrestlers advancing to districts.

Hudson and Hunter Hohman were both champions in their weight brackets.

Taking first in thier brackets; Jennings Augustine and Marcus Geiser. Brennen Seivers takes 2nd and Lawrence Bess takes 3rd.  With only four practices before this tournament, they did great today with all of thier teammates support.

Chase Karenbauer goes 10-0 on the weekend beating the #1, #3, and #9 ranked wrestlers in the country at the VAC National Holiday Duals.  Tanner Hamilton wins the Bison Brawl tournment.  Markel Hackwelder takes 4th and second year wrestler, Patrick Faler, not only gets his first ever win, but also his first pin and wins a 4th place medal.  Liam Kingston takes 2nd at the Clarion Interstate Classic.

 This weekend Grove City Wrestlers participated in two different tournaments. Coach Jared Sample, Hunter Hohman, and Hudson Hohman competed at the Ohio Tournament of Champions. Coach Sample took 2nd in his open class weight bracket. Hudson Hohman also took 2nd in his bracket while big brother, Hunter had a 1st place finish. Hunter dominated his opponents not giving up 1 point. Overall Hunter beat his opponents 23-0 in 4 matches. 

Out in Penn State, Coach Wes Phipps took Cody Hamilton and Hudson Wolbert to the Ultimate Club Duals Freestyle Tournament. Both Cody and Hudson had pins on Saturday. Coach Phipps said both boys looked good at their first freestyle tournament . Congratulations to all the wrestlers and coaches who were #allgasnobrakes this weekend.

Hershey Updates!

      Hunter Hohman started his trip to Hershey wrestling Tyler Berish from Beth Center in the Championship round. Hunter had the first takedown of the match at 1:06 in the first period. The match went back and forth but Hunter would end up losing 8-7.

        In his next match Hunter took on Dalton Clymer from Northwestern. Hunter won that match 9-4 and moved on. Hunter won the Consi of 8 #2 match handedly beating West Perry's Justice Hockenberry-Folk 8-0 to move on to the medal rounds. 

    In the consi of 4 Hunter battled Michael Duggan from Boiling Springs but would eventually lose the match 9-7. Hunter will wrestle Tyler Berish place this afternoon for the second time for 7th or 8th place.

     Cody Hamilton faced Cade Wirnsberger from Meadowbrook Christian in his first match of the day. Wirnsberger scored first and with a takedown and continued to score on Cody who would lose the match 7-1

     In Codys first consi match he beat Andrew Johnson from Southmoreland wit ha Major Decision, 10-1. 

Cody moved into the consi of 8 #2 to meet Cameron Milheim from Warrior run. Milheim won the match 9-2 after a great effort from Cody. 

Great job this weekend by both wrestlers. Both are great representatives of the Grove City Wrestling program and the Grove City Community.

Hunter Homan took 2nd place at 152lbs. at regionals and Cody Hamilton finished 3rd at 138lbs. Both wrestlers will go to states next weekend.

HUNTER HOHMAN D10 CHAMPION!

In a rematch from the prior weeks section match up, Sophomore Hunter Hohman took first place in the 152 lb weight class this weekend with a 7-1 decision over Reynolds Kane Kettering. 

Freshman Cody Hamilton finished the tournament 3-2 and took 4th place at 138lbs to move on to next weekends regional tournament.
